Precautions in Welding Operations
1) Before installing the pressure reducer on the oxygen cylinder nozzle, a short blow-off should be performed to prevent nozzle blockage. It is strictly forbidden to use cylinders without a pressure reducer.
2) There must be no grease on the acetylene generator (acetylene cylinder), the oxygen cylinder nozzle, and the wrench for opening the oxygen cylinder.
3) The acetylene generator (acetylene cylinder) and the oxygen cylinder should be more than 10 meters away from open flames; the distance between the acetylene generator and the oxygen cylinder should also be more than 7 meters.
4) There should be reliable flashback arrestors between the acetylene generator and the welding torch.
5) Both the acetylene generator and the oxygen cylinder should be placed in a well-ventilated area, not exposed to direct sunlight, and kept away from fire sources and other heat sources. The acetylene generator should not be placed indoors, near the intake of air compressors, blowers, and ventilators, nor under high-voltage lines and crane tracks.
6) When opening the calcium carbide barrel, do not strike it forcefully to prevent sparks that could cause an explosion. After starting the acetylene generator, the air inside should be expelled before using acetylene gas. Special care should be taken during high-altitude welding to prevent sparks from falling into the generator.
7) Before using the cutting torch, the injection situation must be checked for correctness. First, open the valve of the cutting torch; after oxygen is emitted, then open the acetylene valve, and check if there is suction at the acetylene interface. If there is suction, then connect the acetylene hose.
